This calculator intends to help to ‘forecast’ your pension pot size given your starting pot size and monthly contributions. It shows when you will be able to access your private pension.
Please note that given that pension is a highly political topic it is very likely that its rules will change. This calculator is intended to be evergreen and is going to be updated whenever new information is published.
This calculator also allows simulating the effect of early retirement on your pension size.
Pension access age
The government announced that it intends to keep private pension access to be ten years earlier than statutory state pension age. The July 2017 review indicates that state pension age will increase to 68 between 2037 and 2039. However, it has not been approved by parliament yet.
Pension lifetime allowance for year 2019 / 2020 is £1,055,000 and it is likely to increase in line with inflation. If you plan to work long enough and to to maximise your pension contributions it is probable that you might reach pension Lifetime Allowance. If you reach this threshold you can still contribute more but you will need to pay more tax on your withdrawals. (https://www.gov.uk/tax-on-your-private-pension/lifetime-allowance)
